Error description
When attempting to update application files when the application files are located outside of the WLP installation directory - but are referenced via symbolic link in the WLP directory - an IllegalStateException may occur, preventing the server from recognizing the change(s) to the application. An FFDC report similar to the following would occur: Stack Dump = java.lang.IllegalStateException: /home/gawor/bluemix/test-apps/server-package/wlp/usr/servers /testServer/apps/ferret-1.0 -SNAPSHOT.war/WEB-INF/classes/net/wasdev/samples/ferret/Requ estData.class /home/gawor/bluemix/test-apps/wlp/usr/servers/testServer/ap ps/ferret-1.0-SNAPSHOT.war at com.ibm.ws.artifact.file.internal.FileArtifactNotifier.conve rtAbsToRelative(FileArtifactNotifier.java:496) at com.ibm.ws.artifact.file.internal.FileArtifactNotifier.scanC omplete(FileArtifactNotifier.java:521) at com.ibm.ws.artifact.file.internal.FileArtifactNotifier$FileA rtifactMonitor.onChange(FileArtifactNotifier.java:328) at com.ibm.ws.kernel.filemonitor.internal.MonitorHolder.externa lScan(MonitorHolder.java:878) at com.ibm.ws.kernel.filemonitor.internal.CoreServiceImpl.notif yFileChanges(CoreServiceImpl.java:322) at com.ibm.ws.kernel.filemonitor.internal.FileNotificationImpl. notifyFileChanges(FileNotificationImpl.java:45)
