Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Liberty Profile with Microsoft SQL * * Server database * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Unable to specify empty port number for * * DataDirect Connect for JDBC and * * Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When using properties.datadirect.sqlserver and properties.microsoft.sqlserver, the port number is defaulted to 1433, making it difficult to avoid specifying a value, which is necessary when using SQL Server named instances.
Problem conclusion
Removed the default value for portNumber from both properties.datadirect.sqlserver and properties.microsoft.sqlserver configuration elements so that the JDBC driver has the opportunity to default the value. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.5. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
Temporary fix
Specify a value of 0 for portNumber, which the JDBC driver might interpret as meaning it should fill in its own default. Alternately, use the generic properties configuration element rather than properties.datadirect.sqlserver or properties.microsoft.sqlserver, in which case the portNumber is not defaulted to anything by the application server.
