Error description
Fixpack 8.0.0.9 of WebSphere Offerings that include a JAVA SDK introduced a new directory and a new softlink for installations on the Linux operating system. The direcotry is <install-root>/java/jre/javaws and the softlink is javaws -> ../bin/javaws. If a roll-back of the installation is done from the v8.0.0.9 installation to a previous installation, the softlink is removed, but the new directory is not removed. This can lead to warnings in the Installation Manager logs for the roll-back operation on certain Linux distributions, such as RedHat Linux v6.6. The directory is left on all Linux distributions, but the warnings are only seen on certain distributions. The warnings can be ignored as the presence of the directory will not cause any functional issues. An example of the warnings that are seen are: com.ibm.ws.exec.command.Exec Command: /opt/IBM/Plugin/properties/install/script/relabel_linux.sh /opt/IBM/Plugin Description : Running relabel linux script Return code : 1 StdOut : StdErr : /usr/bin/chcon: cannot access ´/opt/IBM/Plugin/java/jre/javaws/*': No such file or directory and Configuration errors were detected during the installation. You should view the log file(s) under /var/ibm/InstallationManager/logs directory to investigate the severity of the errors.
Local fix
The empty <install-root>/java/jre/javaws directory can be removed and the warnings can be ignored.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users get a configuration warning * * when rolling back the IBM WebSphere * * offering on a Linux operating system * * with SELinux enabled. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Some JDK files are added or removed during IBM WebSphere offering update or rollback. The SELinux configuration script fails to handle these situations and generates warnings during IBM WebSphere offering update or rollback operations.
Problem conclusion
The SELinux configuration script is enhanced to handle the empty directory and new JDK files added or removed during WebSphere offering update and rollback operation. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.6.
