Error description
The following steps were performed on WebSphere Application Server V8.5.0 hosted on Microsoft Windows. . a. Click Applications > Application Types > WebSphere enterprise applications > application_name. b. Click Session management. At this point Override session management box was unchecked Enable cookies box was checked and greyed out c. Check the box next to Override session management. d. Uncheck the box next to Enable cookies. e. In the same section, check the box next to Enable URL rewriting. f. Click Apply at the bottom of the screen.Page 4 of 22 g. Click the Save link at the top of the page. At this point, we performed a few application tests. Then we proceeded with reverting the change h. Click Applications > Application Types > WebSphere enterprise applications > application_name. i. Click Session management. j. Uncheck the box next to Enable URL rewriting k. Check the box next to Enable cookies l. Uncheck the box next to Override session management m. Click Apply at the bottom of the screen. n. Click the Save link at the top of the page. At this point, Enable cookies box should be checked and greyed out. However, this option becomes unchecked.
Local fix
Did some testing and customer should be able to use AdminConfig.modify command to modify the sessionManager attributes

Uncheck the box next to Override session management m. Click Apply at the bottom of the screen. n. Click the Save link at the top of the page.set before clicking
Problem conclusion
The console will display the values that the user set and saved in the session management properties even when the override checkbox is checked. The console was not correctly displaying either the defaults or the selected (but disabled) values. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.7.
