Error description
An exception is thrown by the webcontainer when an application calls a ServletContext api: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: SRVE9002E: You cannot start this operation from a programmatically added listener when using servlet-3.1 feature. although the operation was called from outside of a programmatically added listener. This happens if a programmatically added servlet context listener throws an exception which is caught by the webcontainer.

This happens if a programmatically added ServletContextListener throws an exception which is caught by the webcontainer.
Problem conclusion
The webcontainer logic, which handles an exception thrown by a programmatically added ServletContextListener, has been modified to ensure that a future call to the ServletContext api is not also considered to be within the scope of that ServletContextListener. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.6.
