Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Microsoft Windows users of IBM WebSphere * * Application Server who are debugging * * issues related to WAS Process Launch * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Provide Microsoft Windows debugging * * information for the JNI DLL code. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply this APAR if IBM support needs deeper * * insight into how process management * * (including initial launch) * * in WebSphere Application Server might be * * malfunctioning, or if you want to * * be better prepared should a problem arise * * in that part of the system. * **************************************************************** This APAR provides improved support, rather than a bug fix. IBM has recently begun providing debugging information (.pdb files) for native Windows libraries used in our products. This has no effect on normal operation of the products, but should help us provide better customer support when if a problem is encountered. The current APAR provides the .pdb for Ws60ProcessManagement.dll, which WebSphere Application Server uses to launch and monitor Microsoft Windows processes. In particular, that DLL is used when WebSphere Application Server is started up or shut down, either from the command line via startServer or startNode or through the console via its start, restart, or stop operations. If a problem occurs in these areas, having this APAR installed should help IBM help you determine what's going wrong. Since it should have no effect upon normal operation, you may wish to install this APAR before you need it rather than waiting for a problem to arise.
Problem conclusion
Provide Ws60ProcessManagement.pdb, to improve IBM's ability to debug Ws60ProcessManagement.dll. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.12 and 8.5.5.8.
