APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
This issue is caused by having the WebModules referencing one EJBModule instead of having two WebModules with independent copies of your EJBModule. To expand further, When you go to deploy the two web applications, EclipseLink treats war1 and war2 as having the same exact classes causing some confusion when EclipseLink is processing the Entity Metadata.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the JPA 2.1 feature of IBM * * WebSphere Application Server Liberty * * Profile that require the sharing of a * * single JPA module for several web modules * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Using a shared JPA module on JPA 2.1 * * will result in a ClassCastExceptions. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When using the JPA 2.1 feature, the session names generated were not unique if a JPA application is deployed as a shared library in Liberty profile. Eclipselink uses only the location of the persistence.xml file to specify their session names. This resulted in the mixing up of classloaders and would throw a ClassCastException.
Problem conclusion
With this fix, code has been updated in Eclipselink to generate unique session names for each web module by appending a special application id to the session name. Details tracking the delivery of this update to Eclipselink can be viewed here: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=475285 The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 16.0.0.2.
