Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of zosSecurity-1.0 on IBM WebSphere * * Application Server Liberty Profile for * * z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CWWKE0701E * * com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factor * * y timeout message at startup * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When zosSecurity-1.0 is enabled, the following error message is sometimes issued at startup: CWWKE0701E: [com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factory(91)] Timeout waiting for reg change to complete unregistered Bundle:com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf These messages are issued when an OSGi service registration or deregistration fails to complete within a reasonable amount of time (5 seconds). In this case, the service component com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factory is in the process of being injected when an optional downstream component becomes available, which causes com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factory to deregister and re-activate itself in order to pick up the newly available downstream component. The deregistration is blocked by the fact that com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factory is currently being injected into another component. Since the injection and deregistration happen on the same thread, the thread remains blocked (on itself) until the 5-second timeout expires.
Problem conclusion
The activation policy of the bundles in feature zosSecurity-1.0 were modified so that the downstream component in question activates before com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factory, so it can be injected into com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factory before com.ibm.ws.security.registry.saf.factory is activated, thereby avoiding the activation pattern that causes the messages to appear. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.8.
