Error description
A thread safety defect was found in the WebSphere Application Server Unit of Work manager initialisation code. This issue could cause unpredictable behaviour and apparently random errors out of the Unit of Work code. This is an extremely low-probability issue. If it does occur, it will be very shortly after server startup.

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Liberty Profile * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Thread safety defect in WebSphere * * Application Server Unit of Work manager * * initialisation * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A thread safety defect was found in the WebSphere Application Server Unit of Work manager initialisation code. This issue could cause unpredictable behaviour and apparently random errors out of the Unit of Work code. This is an extremely low-probability issue. If it does occur, it will be very shortly after server startup.
Problem conclusion
Initialisation of the Unit of Work Manager was incorrectly synchronized, temporarily allowing multiple managers to exist, and/or the use of a partially initialized manager in the first few requests after startup. This synchronization has been corrected. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.9.
