Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users of the * * compensation service/business activities. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A memory leak can occur in a * * static HashMap in class * * com.ibm.ws.cscope.CScopeSubordImpl * * leading to an ever increasing heap * * size * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a subordinate compensation scope completed without having been propagated on a request or a compensator registered with it, it mis-identified its state as being in a loop-back completion condition and postponed completion until the loop-back unwound. This would never occur, since it was not a loop-back completion and hence a memory leak would occur.
Problem conclusion
The compensation service was modified to complete the subordinate compensation scope correctly and perform the cleanup of the entry in the HashMap. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.13 and 8.5.5.10.
