Error description

• Message "ODR:NOTICE: Default tracing has been set to ." that is
  displayed when the Intelligent Management trace is disabled by
  removing the setting is confusing and concerning.  It should be
  changed to something more user friendly. This apar changes the
  message in the case when the trace is set to null, thereby
  removing the trace setting, to use this message:
  "ODR:NOTICE: Default tracing is not set."

  The information message that is issued when trace is not set
  or disabled is confusing, indicating that default trace is set
  to . (dot). The message issued in this case has been corrected
  to indicate that default trace is not set.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code has been changed when the trace is disabled or set to
  nothing so that a more user friendly message is issued under
  this condition.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
