PI57134: FILES IN THE <WAS_INSTALL>/PROPERTIES FOLDER ARE BEING OVERWRITTEN WHEN FIX PACKS ARE INSTALLED

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The client is able to customize these files,
    /usr/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/properties/ffdcRun.properties
    /usr/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/properties/ffdcStart.properties
    /usr/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/properties/ffdcStop.properties
    but when fix packs are installed these files are getting
    overwritten.
    The client's customization is getting lost. These files should
    not be updated, overwritten or updated to default when fix
    packs are installed.
    

Local fix

  • Manually customize this files again.

    These files ( properties/ffdcRun.properties,
    properties/ffdcStart.properties and
    properties/ffdcStop.properties) are FFDC configuration
    properties files and can be customized by users. Therefore,
    they are non-serviceable files and they should not be
    overwritten when the fix packs are installed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The fix is to put these file names in the offering NSF file.
    This will prevent them from being overridden.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.0.0.13 and 8.5.5.10.  Please refer to the
