Error description
Logstash collector interacts with an internal Liberty feature, collector manager to collect log events. Collector manager has the ability to detect events lost when the Logstash collector is not able to consume events at the rate at which they are being produced by the relevant sources. A warning message is issued when the event loss is first detected. The number of lost events in this message doesn't accurately reflect the actual number of lost events.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Liberty Profile - Debug/Tracing * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Logstash collector feature reports * * incorrect lost events. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Logstash collector loses events when it is not able to consume the events at the rate at which they are being produced by the relevant source. Internally these events are stored in buffers to accommodate some slowness in event consumption. However, a source that produces a large volume of events ends up overwriting these buffers, which means events might be lost before the logstash collector can consume them. When this happens, the feature will issue a warning message to the user with the number of lost events. Due to a bug in the buffer management logic the reported number is not correct.
Problem conclusion
The buffer management logic was fixed to report the correct number of lost events. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 16.0.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
