  • The following error may be received when decrypting a
    SOAP message:
    
    CWWSS5601E: The following exception occured while decrypting
    the message: null: java.lang.NullPointerException: null

    When the JAX-WS WS-Security runtime decrypts a SOAP message,
    a "CWWSS5601E: The following exception occured while
    decrypting the message: null: java.lang.NullPointerException:
    null" may occur.  The following stack may be observed in FFDC:

Problem conclusion

  • The JAX-WS WS-Security runtime may be closing a file handle
    that is already closed.  The runtime is updated to check to
    see if the file is already closed before attempting to close.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.43, 8.0.0.13, and 8.5.5.10.  Please refer to
