Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0, V8.5, and V9.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Websphere Application Server for z/OS * * controller abnormally ends with * * ABEND0C4-38 while creating an * * outbound IIOP connection. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** During the creation of outbound IIOP connections, it is possible for a connection request to complete asynchronously before the original thread unwinds the stack. At that point, the TCP connection object associated with the connection will be released back to a pool where it can be reused by another thread causing data corruption.
Problem conclusion
Address information pointers have been moved out of the TCP connection object and into local storage to prevent data corruption in the event that the TCP object is asynchronously pooled and reused. APAR PI70001 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs 8.0.0.13, 8.5.5.12, and 9.0.0.3 of WebSphere Application Server.
