APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Due to changes in the method in which migration processes file
paths, paths with a space are not being handled correctly,
causing migration to fail when locating certain files within
the directory with a space in its name.

You may see error like the following in the WASPreUpgrade trace
    log file:

    com.ibm.wsspi.migration.document.exceptions.NotFoundException:
    bin
    at
    com.ibm.ws.migration.document.BasicDocumentCollection.getChild(B
    asicDocumentCollection.java:578)

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
While attempting to migrate a profile to V9.0 that has a space
somewhere in its path, the WASPreUpgrade command fails after
printing the word bin. In the log file, the error appears as:
MIGR0302I: The existing files are being saved.
    bin
    com.ibm.wsspi.migration.document.exceptions.NotFoundException:
    bin
    at
    com.ibm.ws.migration.document.BasicDocumentCollection.getChild(B
    asicDocumentCollection.java:578)
    at
    com.ibm.ws.migration.utility.ProfileImpl.initializeOwningValues(
    ProfileImpl.java:319)
    ...
This occurs because the space(s) in the path are
percent-encoded by WASPreUpgrade erroneously, causing it to
look in the wrong locations for the necessary files to
    complete migration.

Problem conclusion

  • Migration code was adjusted to preserve the character in the
paths, so that the correct paths are used to look for the
files, even when the path includes a space.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 9.0.0.2. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
