Error description

When a Java Batch job is submitted with a JES job name and
job ID, they are automatically expanded to eight characters
long using trailing spaces before being stored in the job
repository. This can cause unexpected results when
attempting to query against those fields, for instance when
using the Java Batch REST API to retrieve job instances
matching one of these fields.

When a Java Batch job is submitted with a JES job name and job
ID, they are automatically expanded to eight characters long
using trailing spaces before being stored in the job repository.
This can cause unexpected results when attempting to query
against those fields, for instance when using the Java Batch
REST API to retrieve job instances matching one of these
fields.

Problem conclusion

Trailing spaces will now be truncated when persisting the JES
job name and job ID fields, allowing search strings without
trailing spaces to match these values as expected.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
pack 17.0.0.1.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
