Error description

For an application that is secure and requires a login for
access, if the request which triggers the login is a post
request to a servlet which registers and uses a
javax.servlet.ReadListener to read the post data then the
servlet will fail with a Null Pointer Exception which
happens in webcontainer code.

For an application that is secure and requires a login for
access, if the request which triggers the login is a post
request to a servlet which registers and uses a
javax.servlet.ReadListener to read the post data, the servlet
will fail with a Null Pointer Exception which happens in
WebContainer code. For example:

Problem conclusion

The WebContainer code has been fixed so that the post data
received with the original request is made available to the
application ReadListener.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
pack 17.0.0.2.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
