The error occurs when the application server receives a JMX request for the application version when the application is stopped.

The EAR is being opened to retrieve the application version number. This is an expensive operation for a small amount of information.
Problem conclusion
The code has been updated to use the correct parameters when opening the EAR. The code has also been updated to store the application version in deployment.xml during deployment. This makes it unnecessary to open the ear to retrieve the application version. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.13.
