Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Windows * * service users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WebSphere processes running when the * * windows service module is started are * * not detected. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** WebSphere allows users to configure a windows service to control automatically starting and stopping WebSphere. If WebSphere is running when the windows service module is started, the service code will not detect the process.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere service module was incorrectly using a function to determine the name of a running process so it did not recognize the process as a WebSphere process. The code has been corrected to determine the process name and recognize the process as WebSphere. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.14, 8.5.5.13 and 9.0.0.5.
