  In rare circumstances the reference to the logger could be lost,
  resulting in a null pointer exception when attempting to write
  to
  the log.
  

Problem conclusion

• A null check was added to reacquire a reference to the logger if
  needed.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.5.12 and 8.0.0.14.  Please refer to the Recommended
