When the
javax.faces.INTERPRET_EMPTY_STRING_SUBMITTED_VALUES_AS_NULL
context parameter is enabled, it affects display behavior for
input fields that have the required attribute. Values that had
previously been populated by the model are redisplayed on
required input fields after empty strings are submitted on those
fields.

Problem conclusion

The JSF MyFaces 2.0 and JSF MyFaces 2.2 code was updated to fix
this inconsistent behavior. To enable this fix, set the
following context parameter to true:
org.apache.myfaces.INTERPRET_EMPTY_STRING_SUBMITTED_VALUES_AS_NU
LL_CLEAR_INPUT. Fix details can be found at

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
pack 8.0.0.14, 8.5.5.13, 9.0.0.5 for WebSphere Application
Server Traditional Profile and fix pack 17.0.0.3 for WebSphere
Application Server Liberty Profile.  Please refer to the
