APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Register windows service and start/stop service for Liberty
    fails if it's installed in directories names with a space,
    such
    as "Program Files" directory.
    

Local fix

  • putting quotes around the path for prunsrv.exe in the server.bat
    file resolves the problem.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users of the Liberty server as a        *
    *                      Windows service function encounter      *
    *                      'Unrecognized cmd option' and/or        *
    *                      'Invalid command line arguments' when   *
    *                      running the server *WinService          *
    *                      commands.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When running the register/start/stop/unregister WinService
    server commands the user encounters 'Unrecognized cmd option'
    and/or  'Invalid command line arguments' errors.  This problem
    is a result of having the Liberty server installed to a location
    on Windows where the path contains a space (ex, C:\Program
    Files).
    

Problem conclusion

  • Updates were made to the server.bat file to resolve the issue
    with file paths which contain spaces on the Windows
    environment.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
    pack 17.0.0.3.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
    delivery information:
