PI88964: CWWAM2601E ERRORS DURING THE STARTUP OF WEBSPHERE APPLICATION SERVER V9.0

Error description

In WebSphere Application Server v9.0 an application is
configured  with Listener Port and the Message Driven Bean is
declared in  ejb-jar.xml. When the Listener Port is
started,there are a lot of CWWAM2601E errors logged in the
SystemOut.log.

validateMessageDrivenBeanMethod CWWAM2601E: The message-driven
bean javax.ejb.Transaction Attribute listener method onMessage
contains invalid values. Only the following transaction
attributes may be used: REQUIRED, NOT_SUPPORTED.

In the ejb-jar.xml transaction-type attribute is set to
Bean.

The following message was displayed for a
bean-managed transaction:
CWWAM2601E: The message-driven
bean javax.ejb.Transaction Attribute
listener method onMessage
contains invalid values. Only the
following transaction
attributes may be used: REQUIRED,
NOT_SUPPORTED.
This validation test should only apply to
container-managed transactions.

Problem conclusion

The validation step has been changed so that it only applies
to container managed transactions.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 8.5.5.13 and 9.0.0.7.  Please refer to the Recommended
