Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server on Distributed platforms that use * * the IBM Java 8 SDK. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The default size of the shared class * * cache used by Node Agent and * * Application Server JVMs is not * * optimal. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The default sizes of the Java shared class cache and its AOT region should increase in order to reduce the elapsed startup time of Application Servers. These sizes are specified by JVM options -Xscmx and -Xscmaxaot and differ per edition. For base edition, the size of the shared class cache (-Xscmx) used by Application Servers increases from 60M to 90M, and its AOT region (-Xsacmaxaot) from 8M to 12M. For Network Deployment edition, the size of the shared class cache (-Xscmx) used by Application Servers and Node Agents increases from 90M to 120M, and its AOT region (-Xsacmaxaot) from 8M to 16M.
Problem conclusion
Apply APAR PI94531 to increase the default dimensions of the shared class cache used by Node Agent and Application Server JVMs in order to reduce Application Server startup time. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 9.0.0.8 and 8.5.5.14.
