Error description

  • The BeanInfoManager (BeanInfo) instances are holding onto too
much native memory, and can cause a possible leak.
    ..
Can look for the number of classes cached by
    org/apache/taglibs/standard/lang/jstl/BeanInfoManager.
    mBeanInfoManagerByClass.
    .
They are placed in a static of array of java/util/Map
    .
To calculate, each entry in this array is for an application.
    e.g.
    the first one at item[7] = 0x4394d860 .
    It's key is com/xxx/xxx/bcrmsweb/forms/ActivityElementListForm
and it's value is a beanInfoManager which further hashes the
    methods in this class.
The mPropertyByName is the one caches a lot of
    sun/reflect/GeneratedMethodAccessorNNNN.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
BeanInfoManager keeps a hashmap of the classes it has
instances of. This hashmap is not cleaned up when applications
are stopped which causes it to hold onto references of classes
from applications that have stopped and possibly even
restarted. This prevents the Classloaders which loaded those
    classes from being garbage collected.

Problem conclusion

  • Method was added to BeanInfoManager that removes all the
entries for a given classloader. The JSP code was also updated
to call that method when applications are stopped.

APAR PK65936 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 6.1.0.19, 8.0.0.5 and 8.5.0.1 of WebSphere
    Application Server.

The fix will also be delivered as sysrouted APAR PM68439 in
WebSphere Application Server V7.0 for z/OS.
