Error description

The applications in installedApps folder are removed while
deploying the enhancedEar file. The following 2 scenarios will
be addressed in this APAR.

1) Changed the name of the application while updating an
application with Enhanced ear file.

2) Updating application "A" with Enhanced ear file application
"B". For example updating DefaultApplication with Sample
Galary. Both the application names are different, it is
very similar to case 1.

WebSphere Application Server 6.0 and 6.1 are affected with this
EnhancedEar file issue.

Local fix

Unchecking the process embedded configuration in console or
in the wsadmin (by passing -processEmbeddedConfig to false) will
prevent wiping out the application. By setting the process
embedded to false, enhanced ear will be treated as an ordinary
ear file. By default it is set to true. This solution is
applicable for all above scenarios. Check the following link for

The applications in installedApps folder are removed while
deploying an EnhancedEar file in the following scenarios:
1) Changed the name of the application while re-installing or
updating an application with Enhanced ear file.

2) Updating application "A" with Enhanced ear file application
"B". For example updating DefaultApplication with Sample
Gallery. Both the application names are different, it is very
similar to case 1.

The problem was due to the defect in code which constructs the
location to the Installed Applications Directory.

Problem conclusion

Code changes have been made to ensure that the location of the
application Installation Directory is correctly constructed to
resolve this problem.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.21 and 6.0.2.31.  Please refer to the
