Error description

While handling errors (http 404) with filters, internally
response.sendError is not being called appropriately .
WebSphere Application Server V6.1.0.13 Base Edition or Network
Deployment.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a request for a resource that      *
*                      does not exist is made to a URL that    *
*                      is mapped to a filter,                  *
*                      HttpServletResponse.sendError is not    *
*                      being called.                           *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
When an application wrappers a HttpServletResponse object and
extends the sendError method, it will not be called when a
request for a resource that does not exist is handled by a
filter.

Problem conclusion

The WebContainer has been modified to make the correct call to
HttpServletResponse.sendError.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.1.0.21.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
