PK69943: MESSAGE CODE CWSIP0671E INCORRECTLY DISPLYAED WHEN MULTIPLE INDOUBT TRANSACTIONS AFFECT A SINGLE DESTINATION

Error description

When multiple messages on a destination are indoubt during
startup of a messaging engine in WebSphere Application Server
V6.1 the following message may be displayed in the JVM logs
of the application server:
CWSIP0671E: The destination
com.ibm.ws.sib.processor.store.itemstreams.PtoPMessageItemStream
.setCurrentTransaction on messaging engine 1:863:1.95 failed to
be inititialised for maintaining order.

Messages are indoubt when they have been sent to, or received
from, a destination in a two-phase transaction which has
completed the prepare phase, but not completed the
commit/rollback phase. It is valid for multiple messages to be
in this state on a destination, so the messages should not
be logged.

When a messaging engine starts it may find that some
messages are involved in transactions that are indoubt.
It is possible that multiple messages on a single destination
are involved in different indoubt transactions.
However, for a strictly ordered destination this should not
happen as only one transaction can ever be indoubt involving a
destination.
For this reason the CWSIP0671E message is logged to state that
strict message ordering cannot be maintained on the
destination because it is involved in multiple indoubt
transactions.
The only circumstance in which this should happen, is if a
destination entered this condition without strict message
ordering enabled, and strict message ordering was later
enabled before the indoubt transactions were resolved.

The problem addressed in this APAR is that CWSIP0671E
message were logged regardless of whether strict message
ordering was enabled on the destination.

Problem conclusion

With this APAR applied, the CWSIP0671E message will only be
logged if a destination involved in multiple indoubt
transactions has strict message ordering enabled.

The inserts of the CWSIP0671E message have also been corrected
to include the destination name and messaging engine which
hosts the message point for the destination.

This APAR makes no change to the operation of the messaging
engine, and has no effect on the indoubt transactions.
