Error description

Websphere Application Server HTTP Plugin regeneration has
problems when the host name has double hyphens:
--

and inserts a space:
- -

into the newly generated plugin-cfg.xml.


This can cause issues such as a web server start up failure.

For example:

IBM HTTP Server removes spaces when reading the plugin-cfg.xml,
which results in a "--".  For IBM HTTP Server, "--" is not valid
comment syntax and the web server fails to start.

Local fix

Manually edit the plugin-cfg.xml and remove/change the double -
- to something like ==.

Problem summary

The objects are written as part of the comment in the
plugin-cfg.xml file. Double dashes indicate the end of a
comment so parsing begins prematurely and the process is
crashing because data is not expected.

Problem conclusion

Code has been modified to replace double dashes with double
equals in the comment line only.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.0.2.33, 6.1.0.21, 7.0.0.1.
