This is to address a number of non-fatal problems observed in
the functional areas of transaction recovery and application
uninstall.

(1)  While restarting an MDB that had stopped due to a
messaging queue failure, the following FFDC was logged :

ActivationSpecs are unregistered as the MDB is stopped. The
process for unregistering ActivationSpecs attempts to rollback
related transactions which were completing on other threads,
causing the NullPointerException.

(2) During transaction recovery processing, a failure leaves
resources in an unknown state.  Subsequent restarting of the
server completes recovery successfully.

A race condition is causing a Web Services Atomic Transaction
recovery attempt to not complete in a timely manner.

(3) A Null Pointer Exception was thrown while attempting
resource recovery during server restart. The following FFDC
was logged :

While attempting to destroy a resource after it has
successfully completed recovery, a NullPointerException was
thrown, which in turn resulted in a DestroyXAResourceException.

Problem conclusion

(1) While unregistering ActivationSpecs, prevent attempts to
rollback related transactions that are completing successfully.

(2) Eliminate the race condition thus allowing recovery to
progress to completion within the timeout period.

(3) Implement checking to prevent NullPointerException from
being thrown when destroying resource, and stopping subsequent
DestroyXAResourceException from being logged.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
