Error description

The RECOVERY.RETRY.INTERVAL setting is ignored by the recovery
code in the Controller Region, so it always uses the default
setting of 60 secs.

This is not the case for the Servant Region, where this
RECOVERY.RETRY.INTERVAL is honored with any value between the
range of 1 through 2147483647 as indicated in the
"Message listener service custom properties" of the
information center.

Local fix

The default value of RECOVERY.RETRY.INTERVAL = 60 secs can only
be used for the Control Region.

If the connection between WebSphere Application Server and the
JMS provider is broken, both the controller and servant regions
will attempt to make new connections to the JMS provider.  The
interval between these attempts to establish new connections
are determined by the RECOVERY.RETRY.INTERVAL custom property
on the message listener service.  However in this case this
value was not being honored by the controller region, so the
default of 60 seconds was used.

Problem conclusion

The code that processes the custom properties on the message
listener service for the controller region was fixed so that
it processes a RECOVERY.RETRY.INTERVAL property if one is set.

APAR PK72219 currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 6.0.2.33 of WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1
for z/OS.
