Error description

  • Running WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment version

    exception like the following might occur during web
    services application startup:

    [6/20/08 13:16:18:626 CEST] 0000003b WSServerImpl  3   FAILED

    This startup error would result in runtime errors later on,
    when the web service is invoked.

    Users implementing web services on WebSphere Application
    Server V6 and V7 might observe application startup
    exceptions like the below:

    WSServerImpl 3 FAILED to Load JSR-109 JAX-RPC Mapping DD
    XML file: META-INF/HelloWorld_mapping.xml

    java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 11, Size: 11

    WSServerImpl  E   WSWS1037E: The JSR 109 JAX-RPC mapping DD
    file META-INF/HelloWorld_mapping.xml as specified in
    <webservice-description> HelloWorldService in DD
    META-INF/webservices.xml for module HelloWorldEJB.jar
    was not found in application HelloWorldApp. This
    WebServiceDescription will be ignored.

    This WSWS1037E error indicates that the web services
    engine could not properly load and configure the web service.
    A runtime error would occur when a client attempts to invoke
    the web service. The web services engine would fail to
    dispatch the request and invoke the service. A response would
    not be sent; consequently, a "WSWS3180E: Error: Null
    response message" error would occur on the server and a SOAP
    fault that indicates request processing error sent to the
    client.

Problem conclusion

  • Note that WSWS1037E error could be caused by any number of
    exceptions. This APAR fixes the specific problem
    of the java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException that happens when
    MappingMetaDOM.loadFromFile() calls
    FileNameResourceFactoryRegistry.registerLastFileSegment(). It
    does not fix every exception that could happen when the
    web services engine tries to load a JAX-RPC mapping file.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 6.0.2.33, 6.1.0.23, and 7.0.0.1. Please refer to the
