Error description

You can observe the following exception when trying to call
MessageContext.setProperty(Stub.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY,
<new_endpoint>) from a JAX-RPC request handler configured on the
Web Services client when you switch between http and https
protocol.

The exception is thrown when for example you generate a Web
Services client from a Web Services Description Language (wsdl)
that uses http protocol in the location attribute of
wsdlsoap:address element and in the JAX-RPC request handler on
the client you switch to https protocol via
MessageContext.setProperty(Stub.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY,
<new_endpoint>) API.

The Web Services code does not allow you to change the
protocol from HTTP to HTTPS and vice versa using the
javax.xml.rpc.service.endpoint.address property in a JAX-RPC
handler. If the transport type is HTTP, specifying endpoint
addresses such as http://ibm.com and https://ibm.com are both
valid.

If the endpoint URL protocol is changed in a JAX-RPC handler,
the following exception will occur:

javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: Attempt to set property
javax.xml.rpc.service.endpoint.address to an invalid target
endpoint address: https://<new_endpoint>

Problem conclusion

The javax.xml.rpc.handler.MessageContext.setProperty method
now allows switching between HTTP and HTTPS and vice versa,
but still disallows switching to JMS.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpacks 6.0.2.33, 6.1.0.23 and 7.0.0.3.  Please refer to the
