APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
WS-Security message part protection signature elements detail panel is labeled incorrectly. In the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, navigate to the request or response message part protection panel and select to Edit a "Signed part" under the Integrity protection section. The resulting panel displays "Name of part to be encrypted" and it should display "Name of part to be signed" Using the WebSphere Application Server administrative console: 1. Navigate to "Services > Policy Sets > Application policy sets 2. Select any policy set on this page that contains the WS-Security policy type 3. Select WS-Security > Main Policy 4. Select "Request message part protection" or "Response message part protection" 5. Select any part under "Integrity protection" (such as "app_signparts"), and then click the Edit button beside it. On the resulting panel the top label indicates *Name of part to be encrypted It should be: *Name of part to be signed There are no errors or exceptions in any log files for this problem. The label in the JavaServer Page (JSP) for this page was incorrect.
Local fix
The mis-labeled text will not cause any web services runtime errors. The displayed text is confusing to users when they are configuring message part protection. If an administrator ignores the label and proceeds with the configuration, it will result in a correctly configured WS-Security policy.
