APAR status

Error description

  • This APAR fixed the following problems:
    
    Using the WebSphere Application Server administrative console:
    1. Navigate to Services > Trust service > Trust service
    attachments
    2. Select an operation (such as the Issue token )
    3. Select Assign Binding > New Trust Service Specific Binding
    4. Type "trustTest" in the Bindings configuration name field
    5. Click Add > WS-Security
    6. Click the "Custom properties" link
    7. Click Apply
    8. Click "Save directly to the master configuration"
    9. The page changes to the Trust service attachments page and
    the new binding is not listed.
    10. Click the Trust service attachments link in the navigation
    tree on the left ( Services > Trust services > Trust service
    attachments ) The missing binding is now listed.
    
    
    Using the WebSphere Application Server administrative console:
    1. Navigate to Services > Trust service > Trust service
    attachments
    2. Select an operation (such as the Issue token )
    3. Select Assign Binding > Provider sample ( this is a General
    binding )
    4. Click on the Provider sample binding
    5. Click on WS-Security policy. The Actor roles link that is
    listed should not be displayed on the page (The Actor roles
    link should only be displayed on application specific
    bindings ).
    6. Click on the Authentication and protection link
    7. The token names displayed are incorrect and appear to not be
    configured.
    
    Using the WebSphere Application Server administrative console:
    1. Navigate to Services > Trust service > Trust service
    attachments
    2. Select an operation (such as the Issue token )
    3. Click the Assign Binding button and select the Provider
    sample binding ( this is a general provider binding )
    4. Select the New Attachment button
    5. Type a Service endpoint URL, such as "http://testURL"
    6. Click the Attach button
    7. An error is displayed at the top of the Trust service
    attachments page "The getPolicySetAttachments administration
    command failed: CWPST0053E: The Provider sample binding was
    not found."

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WebSphere Application Server            *
    *                      administrative console users            *
    *                      encounter problems creating Trust       *
    *                      service specific bindings and editing   *
    *                      general bindings through the Trust      *
    *                      service attachments panel.              *
    *                      An error is displayed if a new Trust    *
    *                      service attachment is created and any   *
    *                      of the default operations has a         *
    *                      general binding assigned.               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    1. The missing binding name in the Trust service attachment
    panel was due to the panel's controller logic not running to
    repopulate the page and retrieve the new binding name.
    2. The code that displays the Actor role link for
    application specific bindings was not taking into account that
    the Trust service bindings should be considered a provider
    side general binding.
    3. The getBinding administration task to retrieve the general
    bindings configuration information was missing the
    "bindingScope=global" parameter.
    4. The getPolicySetAttachments administration runtime task was
    not returning the "bindingScope" property to indicate that a
    binding was a general binding. As such it was treated as a
    Trust service specific binding and not located in the correct
    configuration directory, generating the error message.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The binding configuration code that runs when the trust service
    attachment panel is displayed was updated to use the new
    administration task parameter "bindingScope" to manage
    configuration data for general bindings. The controller code
    for the panel was updated to retrieve new configuration data
    each time the panel is displayed.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fixpack 7.0.0.1.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
