Error description

This APAR will fix two problems with the WebSphere
Administrative Console security domain panel.

Both problems cause incorrect security attribute radio buttons
to be selected on the security domain panel.

The first problem occurs when you do the following:
1. Navigate to Security > Security domains > mydomain.
2. Expand any of the Security Attributes sections.
3. Change the radio button to 'Customize for this domain'.
4. Click on any of the links to customize the domain.
5. Return to the previous panel by clicking on the breadcrumb,
ok, apply, or cancel.
6. Change the radio button back to 'Use global security
settings'.
7. Click Apply or OK.

After selecting Apply or OK, then 'Use global security settings'
should be selected. However, 'Customize for this domain' is
selected instead. The correct data was saved to the
configuration repository on the Apply or OK action, however,
the data on the panel does not accurately display the
configuration data.


The second problem causes your radio button selections to be
erased after clicking on a customize link and then returning
back.  It only occurs when using the Mozilla Firefox 3 browser
when you do the following:
1. Navigate to Security > Security domains > mydomain.
2. Expand any of the Security Attributes sections.
3. Change the radio button to 'Customize for this domain'.
4. Click on any of the links to customize the domain.
5. Return to the previous panel by clicking on the breadcrumb,
ok, apply, or cancel.

After returning to the previous panel, 'Customize for this
domain' should still be selected.  However, 'Use global
security settings' is selected instead.

This APAR fixes two problems with security domain attribute
radio buttons. The panel has code that remembers which radio
buttons were selected when the user clicks on a link and then
returns back to the panel.

The first problem, described in the error description, happens
because the panel is restoring old radio button values. To
fix this problem, once the radio buttons have been restored,
the remembered data should be removed.

The second problem, described in the error description,
happens because the JavaScript that restores the radio button
settings does not work on Mozilla Firefox 3.

Problem conclusion

A JavaScript file has been changed to fix the problem. In
order to ensure that your browser picks up the new version of
the file, you should clear your browser cache after applying
the APAR.

To clear the browser cache using Microsoft? Internet Explorer
version 7:
1.  Go to Tools > Internet Options
2.  Under ?Browsing history? click the ?Delete...? button

To clear the browser cache using Microsoft? Internet Explorer
version 6:
1.  Go to Tools > Internet Options
2.  Under ?Temporary Internet files? click the ?Delete
Files? button

To clear the browser cache using Mozilla Firefox:
1.  Go to Tools > Clear Private Data
2.  Select the ?Cache? check box
3.  Click the 'Clear Private Data Now' button

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpack 7.0.0.1.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
