PK73752: A 404 RESPONSE CODE OCCURS AFTER INCREASING THE NUMBER OF HTTP HEADERS

Error description

The users application increased the number of http headers being
used to 218.  This caused the Plugin to get the following
error:
ERROR: ESI: esiResponseCreate: unable to set
Surrogate-Capability header
The Plugin was unable to handle the request because it had
exceeded the maximum number of headers allowed as shown by the
following trace entry:
TRACE: lib_htrequest: htrequestSetHeader: maximum number of
request headers allowed has been reached.
The request is returned to the webserver and a 404 occurs.

The plugin component had a hard coded limit of 300 request and
response headers.

Problem conclusion

Code has been modified to allow a custom property settable
from the webserver plugin custom properties. The property name
is HTTPMaxHeaders and defaults to 300. Valid range is 1 to 4000.

To set this custom property, select plug-in properties from
the web server general properties. Select customer properties
from the configuration table. Enter HTTPMaxHeaders as the name
and a value between 1 and 4000.

To manually add the property to the plugin-cfg.xml file, add
HTTPMaxHeaders = "<value>" in the Config tag. Example :
<Config ASDisableNagle="false" AcceptAllContent="false"
AppServerPortPreference="HostHeader" ChunkedResponse="false"
FIPSEnable="false" HTTPMaxHeaders="2500"
IISDisableNagle="false" IISPluginPriority="High"
IgnoreDNSFailures="false" RefreshInterval="60"
ResponseChunkSize="64" VHostMatchingCompat="false">

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpack 6.1.0.21 and 7.0.0.3.  Please refer to the Recommended
