PK74080: RESTORECONFIG GIVES UNEXPECTED EXCEPTION FOR SYSTEMAPPS APPLICATION

Error description

While restoring the configuration using the restoreConfig
command we see the following exception on WebSphere Process
Server environment.
The restorcConfig command went successfully even though we see
the following in the restoreconfig.log

This cbebrowser.ear is a systemapps application. Usually
systemapps applications do not contain any .ear file under
/config/cells/cellname/applications/<application name>

Example isclite.ear installed as systemapp using zeroEarCopy
option, the isclite.ear binary does not exist in config.

So regular expand logic will fail.  Here we skip expandEar
for isclite.ear,as isclite.ear is already expanded in
systemApps directory during profile creation. During
this .ear skip, following debug message will appear from trace.

Notice:
isclite.ear is installed as a systemapp using zeroEarCopy
option. Since the isclite.ear binary does not exist in config
repository, we do not try to expand it. The isclite.ear should
already be expanded in systemApps directory.

There is a failure in restoreConfig when a customer system
application .ear file uses the zeroEarCopy option. The
restoreConfig command fails with "ADMU7008E: Unexpected
exception in expandEar". The paths are correct, the files
referenced exist in the path. However the path names shows
include the EAR file name twice:
IWAE0037E Could not open
/opt2/ibm/ProcServer/rtcoe/profiles/rtcoePrd01Dmgr01/config/cell
s/rtcoePrd01/applications/cbebrowser.ear/cbebrowser.ear
It is already hard coded to skip the regular expansion for
some ear files, (for example, filetransfer.ear, isclite.ear).
This is because regular expansion will fail as they are system
applications using the zeroEarCopy option. In the future if
there are any new system application ear files with zeroEarCopy
option, then we need to hard code the new ear file name as well.

This APAR reads the deployment.xml which contains a flag that
identifies zero ear copy applications. If the flag is set,
then we will ignore the application during restoration of
application binaries.

Problem conclusion

Source code has been modified to remove hard coded ear
name and read deployment.xml for zero ear copy flag.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpacks 6.1.0.25 and 7.0.0.3.
