In a cluster operating under high availability, more servers
will be active in a transaction group than allowed for in the
policy.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Sometimes after a secondary server      *
*                      joins a fail over group that has an     *
*                      active preferred server, the high       *
*                      availability manager will fail to       *
*                      deactivate the secondary server,        *
*                      resulting in both servers remaining     *
*                      active.                                 *

The high availability manager (HAM) keys off the unique server
ID (UUID) from the server.xml file and the UUID from the
serverindex.xml file. They must match in order for the HAM to
correctly manage server activation and deactivation. The IDs
are generated automatically at profile creation time. The code
for UUID generation incorrectly generated different UUIDs
for entries for he same server in the server.xml and
serverindex.xml files.

Problem conclusion

The code that generates UUIDs at profile creation time was
changed to use the same UUID for entries for the same server
appearing in different files. The profile template files were
updated with placeholder values to support matching server
instances across files.

APAR PK74209 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.1 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0
for z/OS.
