Error description

Command line interface uses the wsadmin framework.

java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException being thrown instead
of giving an 'invalid parameter' exception  when running the
command AdminTask.tklmKeyList('[-v ]') after extending the
wsadmin commands.

WASX7015E: Exception running command:
"AdminTask.tklmKeyList('[-v ]')"; exception information:
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException:
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException


This needs to be fixed  so we get the error message
com.ibm.ws.scripting.ScriptingException: WASX8009E: Invalid
parameter: v

instead of the StringIndexOutOfBoundsException.

Problem summary

There is a bug in wsadmin formValidObject code to assume any
Character parameter will never be null or empty. It is a valid
scenario and needs to be considered.

Problem conclusion

The wsadmin DefaultStringHandler code was changed to
add additional non-null checking for parameters with "Char"
type.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpacks 6.1.0.23 and 7.0.0.3. Please refer to the Recommended
