Error description

WebSphere Application Server throws an IllegalArgumentException
when parsing the query string in the URL with illegal characters
as per RFC3986.

Customer need an option to configure WebSphere
Application Server not to throw the IllegalArgumentException
while parsing the query string from invalid URL's.

Problem summary

*                      when the URL's query string contains    *
*                      any invalid % encoding character.       *

When the WebContainer encounters an invalid % encoding
character in a query string, it throws an
IllegalArgumentException and ignores the entire query string.
In applications where every field in the query string is an
essential resource, ignoring all fields may not be a desirable
behavior.

Problem conclusion

The Web Container code was modified to ignore any invalid
field and continue to process the remaining ones.  The
following WebContainer custom property needs to be set for
this to work:

com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.ignoreInvalidQueryString = true/false
(default)

The custom property is not case sensitive and applicable to
6.1 and 7.0

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpacks 6.1.0.25 and 7.0.0.5
