APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
An input parameter defined in the WSDL as xsd:int with nillable="true" is not processd correctly by the tools. The tooling (xjc or wsimport) will map the xml to a java.lang.Integer. Without the nillable="true", the mapping will be to a java primitive int. The value is not being unmarshalled correctly even when it is present in the WSDL document.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V7.0 who use JAX-WS or JAXB * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The JAXB Unmarshaller may populate * * the wrong fields in a JAXB object. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The JAXB runtime fails to distinguish between elements in complexTypes that contain similar nillable and non-nillable types (e.g. "int" and "java.lang.Integer"), For example: <element name="sell"> <complexType> <sequence> <element name="userID" nillable="true" type="xsd:string"/> <element name="holdingID" nillable="true" type="xsd:int"/> <element name="orderProcessingMode" type="xsd:int"/> </sequence> </complexType> </element> The first two elements are mapped to java.lang.Integer objects. The third element (orderProcessingMode) is mapped to an int primitive. The JAXB runtime may populate the wrong fields when unmarshalling. No errors are reported, but upon closer inspection, users will realize that loss of data has happened. For example if the following xml instance is unmarshalled: ... <sell> <orderProcessingMode>123</orderProcessingMode> </sell> ... The JAXB runtime may set the userID field to Integer(123) and the orderProcesingMode field may remain unset.
Problem conclusion
The appropriate fields are now populated. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 7.0.0.3. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
