PK75886: OPTION TO DISABLE THE AUTOMATIC ADDITION OF THE NODE NAME TO JAAS ALIAS

Error description

WebSphere Application Server's default behavior in v7 is to
automatically add the node name to a JAAS alias. This can cause
problems:
1) The GUI adds the node name implicitly but scripts (customers
as well as stack products)
just add the alias causing inconsistencies.
2) Customers have a difficult time handling node names in the
alias, since their scripts have
to be changed everytime a new node is added/removed. They also
need to be aware of the node
names even though their alias names are unique. Has been a big
pain point for many customers.

This APAR will add an option at the admin console to
enable/disable the automatic addition of the node name to the
JAAS alias.

Problem conclusion

This APAR will add an option at the administration console to
enable/disable the automatic addition of the node name to the
JAAS alias. The checkbox will be on the JAAS - J2C
authentication data collection panel and will be:

"Prefix new alias names with the node name of the cell (for
compatibility with earlier releases)"

The description is :
"Selecting this option will cause the system to automatically
prefix each new alias that you create with the node name of
the cell. Clear the checkbox if you do not have any scripts in
the earlier releases that expect the node name in the alias."

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpack 7.0.0.3.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
