Error description

Compensation Scope recovery tests failing with various
symptoms.

These include too many compensators being called during
recovery and a NullPointerException during unmarshalling
of ActivityService request info.

Problem summary

* USERS AFFECTED:  All IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.1   *
*                  and V7.0 users of the Compensation Service. *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Compensation Service recovery tests     *
*                      were failing. Too many compensators     *
*                      were called and a                       *
*                      NullPointerException was thrown.        *

Some tests were periodically failing during the running of
extended Compensation Service recovery tests. The failures
included too many compensators being called during recovery,
and a NullPointerException during unmarshalling of
ActivityService request information.

Problem conclusion

The Compensation Service has been changed to ensure that the
Compensation Service recovery calls only the required
compensators, and ensures the Compensation Service will be
protected from NullPointerExceptions during the unmarshalling
of ActivityService request information.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpacks 6.1.0.23 and 7.0.0.3.  Please refer to the Recommended
