Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V7.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The CPU usage subsection of the * * WebSphere Application Server for z/OS * * SMF 120 subtype 9 record was not * * being generated when enabled via * * MODIFY command. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** WebSphere Application Server for z/OS 7.0 introduces the SMF 120 subtype 9 record. Unlike previous SMF records, this record and its subsections can be enabled and disabled dynamically via MODIFY command. Several pieces of code relied on by the CPU usage subsection only checked SMF flags at server startup, so the CPU usage subsection could not be enabled dynamically.
Problem conclusion
Code related to the CPU usage subsection in the EJB container and the web container has been updated to support dynamic enabling and disabling of the SMF 120 subtype 9 CPU usage subsection. APAR PK77275 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.3 of WebSphere Application Server for z/OS. Please refer to URL: //www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=404&uid=swg27006970 for Fix Pack availability.
