Error description

The customer enabled the Data Replication Service (DRS) at the
application level and received a ClassCastException when
stopping the application.  This problem occurs with the
DefaultApplication and others.  Tracing
F BBOS001,TRACEJAVA='com.ibm.ws.drs.*=all'
shows the details of the error.  DRS, also memory-to-memory
session management replication, is enabled, some work is done
against the application, the application is stopped, and the
exception occurs.

The customer expects to be able to enable DRS without receiving
exceptions.

Local fix

Problem summary

This problem occurs when:
1. The platform on which the application server is running is
zOS.
2. Memory to memory replication is configured at the
application level.
3. A running application is stopped.

Under these three conditions the application stop processing
is interrupted by a ClassCastException that is logged in the
system out.

Problem conclusion

To prevent the ClassCastException code changes were made to
cast a class to the type applicable for a z/OS platform.

APAR PK77510 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 6.1.0.25 of WebSphere Application Server V6.1
for z/OS.
