Error description

Installation of WebSphere Application Server v7.0 on AIX does
not create ODM entries when installed silently. IF installed
using the GUI interface the ODM entries are created
successfully.

When installed silently, lslpp -l WS* does not list the product
as installed. The vpd.properties file is not updated as well
with the entries.

The installation must be registered in the ODM as other
products check the ODM for verification the instance exists.

Local fix

Work around indicated is to create a custoimized installation
package (CIP) using the v7.0.0.1 Installation Factory as it has
an updated installer that will correctly create the entries in
the ODM and vpd.properties file.

When installed silently, installation of WebSphere Application
Server v7.0 does not create platform registry entries on Linux
and Unix platforms. Also, this will cause problems for other
products which use the platform registry entries to verify the
existence of WebSphere Application Server v7.0.

Problem conclusion

This APAR installs a registerproduct.sh utility under the
WAS_HOME/bin directory. You can run this utility to create
platform registry entries on the installation where this
problem occurred.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fixpack 7.0.0.5.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
