Error description
Environment: SuSE Linux 10 WebSphere Application Server V7.0.0.0 Network Deployment edition . Abstract: Unable to create JCC Type2 datasource with Japanese Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 browser. . Problem Description: The customer tries to create DB2 JCC type2 datasource by the following steps. But, he cannot change to "Driver type" 2. . 1. Navigate Resources -> JDBC -> Data sources 2. Submit "New" button 3. Choose "Create new JDBC provider" or "Select an existing JDBC provider" 4. Change "Driver type" to 2 from 4(default) 5. Value is unexpectedly brought back to 4 . - If using Firefox or Internet Explorer7, this issue won't happen. - if changing browser language to en_US from ja, this sypmtom also won't happen Here are requested URLs internally when selecting "Driver type" 2. If using Internet Explorer6 with lang=ja, the value of currentStep is garbage. It seems that this garbage value causes this unexpected issue. . Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server users of * * the administrative console who create a * * data source using Microsoft? Internet * * Explorer version 6 and the browser * * language set to Japanese (ja). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the Japanese Microsoft? * * Internet Explorer version 6, it was * * not possible to create a DB2 JCC type * * 2 data source. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The administrative console's data source wizard was not functioning correctly when the browser was Microsoft? Internet Explorer version 6 and the browser's language was set to Japanese (ja). In particular, it was not possible to create a DB2 JCC type 2 data source because the wizard would not allow you to select a 2 for the "Driver type". When 2 was selected for the"Driver type", the Driver type would revert back to a 4 (which is the default). The data source wizard was not correctly encoding the values from the wizard panel.
Problem conclusion
The administrative console code was changed to encode the administrative console's data source wizard. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 7.0.0.5.
