Error description
The Publish/subscribe bridge blanks out "reply to" information in subscription requests sent from WebSphere Application Server to a broker in a WebSphere MQ network. The broker rejects the subscription requests and places them on to the broker queue manager's Dead Letter Queue.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V7 who use the Publish/subscribe bridge to * * publish and subscribe with a broker in a * * WebSphere MQ network (the broker can be * * WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere Event * * Broker, or the Publish/subscribe * * functionality that is integrated into * * WebSphere MQ V7). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When subscribing to topics in * * WebSphere Application Server that map * * to topics hosted by a broker in a * * WebSphere MQ network, no publications * * are received. Instead, a build of * * subscription requests can be seen on * * the broker queue manager's Dead * * Letter Queue. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When subscribing to topics in WebSphere Application Server that in turn map to topics hosted by a broker in a WebSphere MQ network, subscription requests sent by the Publish/subscribe bridge to the broker are created with blank reply to queue information in them. With the reply to queue information missing, the broker recognises that there is no valid reply to location to send publications to and does not process the subscription requests. Instead, the broker places the subscription requests, with a reason of MQRC_MISSING_REPLY_TO_Q (2027), to the broker queue manager's Dead Letter Queue. Hence, the subscribing application never receives any publications.
Problem conclusion
The code to set the reply to information on the subscription request has been moved to a method that is called later in the initialisation of the message so it no longer gets blanked out. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 7.0.0.3.
